The rooms at The Edge Mountain Retreat were absolutely cozy and inviting. I stayed in a twin room that had an electric kettle, perfect for my morning cup of tea. The seating area was a great spot to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring. The chalet I stayed in had a balcony that offered breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. It was truly a serene and tranquil experience.
Personally, I found the lack of a fully equipped kitchen in some units a bit disappointing. However, I understand that not everyone would need one and it may not be a drawback for other guests.

Great escape with beautiful views and serene surroundings. Loved strolling through the well-maintained gardens and enjoying a cup of espresso on the veranda. The historic furniture added charm to the lodge. I highly recommend this place for a peaceful and scenic retreat.

We had a blast checking out the cool climate gardens and rose and azalea nurseries nearby. Plus, the hiking and fishing options were off the hook! The trails took us through winding streams, valleys, and mountain plateaus. And if that wasn't enough, we even got to try our hand at archery and visit some local artists. Talk about an epic adventure!
The only thing we wished was a bit more party-friendly at The Edge Mountain Retreat was some live music or a DJ to get our groove on. It would have been super awesome to have a sick dance floor where we could show off our moves and jam to some killer tunes.

We had a lovely Xmas getaway. The facilities were clean and functional, and the kitchenette was fully equipped. The location offered beautiful views and the surroundings were quiet, providing a sense of peace and solitude. Additionally, the information provided at reception was excellent, helping us make the most of our stay.
There were a few issues that detracted from our experience. The rooms were quite dated and in need of updating.

The value for money at the retreat was excellent, and the room was comfortable and warm. The location up on the mountain provided breathtaking views and the well-kept property added to the magical atmosphere. The staff at the retreat were friendly and attentive, making our stay even more enjoyable.
The menu for breakfast could have had more variety, but overall the food was still good and satisfying.

The location is absolutely jaw-dropping, with magnificent views from a well-kept property. The Heaven's Above cottage is spacious, clean, and homely, with adorable vintage furnishings. The outdoor shower and bath near the cliff are mind-blowing and provide an unforgettable experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, providing clear information and excellent service. The restaurant offers delicious meals, especially the vegetarian curry, and has a cozy fireplace. The facilities are more than adequate, with dog-friendly accommodations and free wood for the braai/fireplace. Hogsback village is very special, offering plenty of hiking, fishing, and horseback riding opportunities.

The cool climate gardens and rose and azalea nurseries were a delight to explore, providing us with a peaceful and serene environment. We also enjoyed hiking along the winding streams, taking in the stunning views of the valleys and mountain plateaus. The proximity of the accommodation to Katberg Eco Golf Estate allowed us to enjoy a round of golf as well. Additionally, we had the opportunity to visit local artists and were amazed by their talent.
My kids wished there were more outdoor activities specifically designed for children.

I felt like a true adventurer exploring the enchanting forests and majestic waterfalls in Hogsback. Birdwatching was a delight, especially the endangered Cape Parrot. The self-catering cottages had yummy meals available, and the retreat had everything I needed, including beautiful gardens and a bar.
I absolutely adored my stay, but it would have been even better if the WiFi mysteriously vanished and I couldn't communicate with the outside world. Such a shame.

I recently stayed at The Edge Mountain Retreat for a peaceful getaway. The serene and calm atmosphere was exactly what I needed to escape the city. The viewpoint at the hotel was absolutely breathtaking, and I spent hours enjoying the tranquility. The staff at the restaurant were incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious. The privacy and cosiness of the unit, along with the magnificent view and fireplace in the lounge, made it feel like a home away from home. The little touches like fresh flowers, free firewood, and well-lit emergency lighting were much appreciated. The 1.4km labyrinth in the garden was a unique and enjoyable way to take a walk. I had an amazing experience at The Edge Mountain Retreat.
Strongly recommend this hotel.
